Sierra water air valve series 6400-PP Are Hydromechanical devices designed to automatically release or admit air during pipeline filling, draining, or operation of a water pipeline or system. The safe operation and efficiency of a pipeline are dependent on the continual removal of air from the pipeline.
Water Air Valve Product OverviewSERIES 6400 is a single chamber aero-kinetic water air valve, which designed to prevent dynamic closure under higher air velocity. Valves shall be of single chamber double orifice three functions combination air valves and automatic float operated. The valve shall provide 4-functions: (1) Entrance large volumes of air during pipeline draining or negative pressure condition e.g. power failures, and sudden pump stoppage (water hammer conditions) from large orifice (2) Releasing large volumes of air during pipeline filling (from large orifice), (3) Releasing small volumes of air during working (pipeline and valve under pressure) from Nozzle or small orifice. Accumulates in the upper part of the valve body, little by little it is compressed and released automatically, and (4) Limiting of the air flow velocity during discharge condition when uncontrolled or high velocity pipeline filling, this causes an air-cushion in the pipeline, lowering high speed of water running which follows air, reducing the risk of induced impact (surge) and maintain safe closure of the main float. |

Single chamber full bore body with PN 25 bar pressure rating
The valve features a single chamber full bore body manufactured from ductile cast iron and rated for PN 25 bar, providing high strength, reliable performance, and suitability for demanding pipeline applications.
Aerodynamic mechanism to prevent premature closure
Its advanced aerodynamic mechanism is designed to avoid premature closure of the mobile block at low air velocities, ensuring stable operation and efficient air release under varying system conditions.
Precision polypropylene float assembly for smooth movement
The mobile block consists of a cylindrical polypropylene float assembly, with float components accurately joined to prevent deformation and provide precise, smooth sliding inside the valve body.
Strong and simple design for reliable performance under water hammer
The valve features an advanced yet simple mechanism with a robust float designed to resist cracking during sudden water hammer events while ensuring quick and dependable closure.
Aerokinetic mechanism to resist blow shut at high air velocity
Its aerokinetic design helps resist blow shut under high air velocities, even up to the sonic velocity of air, improving valve reliability and maintaining effective performance in severe operating conditions.
No arms or levers for vibration-free operation
The design eliminates arms and levers to prevent vibration, bending, and direct float closure, while guide stems keep the float moving accurately within the specified guide rail for smoother and more controlled operation.
Fusion bonded epoxy coating for long-term corrosion protection
The valve body is fully coated inside and outside with fusion bonded epoxy, providing excellent corrosion resistance and supporting long-term service life in harsh environments.
Top-entry maintenance for easy servicing
Maintenance can be performed easily from the top of the valve without removing the air valve from the pipeline, reducing downtime and simplifying service operations.
This air valve is designed with a single chamber full bore ductile cast iron body rated for PN 25 bar, delivering strength, durability, and dependable operation in pressurized pipeline systems. Its aerodynamic mechanism prevents premature closure of the mobile block at low air velocities, while the aerokinetic design resists blow shut even under very high air velocity conditions. The cylindrical polypropylene float assembly is accurately manufactured to prevent deformation and ensure precise sliding movement inside the body.
The valve also features a simple and robust internal mechanism with a strong float that resists cracking during sudden water hammer and supports quick closure. By eliminating arms and levers, the design reduces vibration and bending, while guide stems maintain proper float movement. For durability, the valve body is protected with a fusion bonded epoxy coating inside and outside, and for convenience, top-entry maintenance allows easy servicing without removing the valve from the pipeline.
