Tilting Disc Check Valve Product OverviewSIERRA model 5400 is a swing type tilting disc check valve that is a development of the traditional type swing check valve that has been designed to allow for frequent flow reversals without causing wear in the shaft seat which is a common feature of the swing check. The compact body of the tilting disc saves space during installation hence reducing construction cost. The disc is pivoted in the upper one third of the valve body; hence the disc eccentricity is much smaller than that of the conventional swing check. Due to the shorter distance travelled by the disc the tilting check valve closes more rapidly hence resulting in less slam and water hammer Tilting disc check valves can be supplied with counter weights or springs to assist closure hence reducing shut off time. They can also be equipped with a double stage hydraulic damper (oil dashpot) for slow closure requirements. |

Compact valve design for space-saving installation
The valve features a compact design that requires minimal installation space, making it an ideal choice for projects where layout efficiency and reduced footprint are essential. This space-saving construction also simplifies integration into new and existing pipeline systems.
Flexible design for easy maintenance of counterweight and hydraulic damper
The valve is designed with flexibility in mind, allowing convenient maintenance access to the counterweight and/or hydraulic damper. This helps reduce service complexity, supports easier inspection, and improves long-term maintenance efficiency in demanding applications.
Stable operation with balanced flow on both sides of the disc
Its advanced design allows the flow to pass on both sides of the disc, ensuring stable valve operation and improved hydraulic balance. This contributes to smoother performance, reduced vibration, and dependable operation under varying flow conditions.
Double eccentric design for lower operating torque and longer seal life
The double eccentric design reduces seat friction during operation, resulting in lower operating torques and less wear on sealing components. This not only improves valve performance but also extends seal life and enhances long-term reliability.
Counterweight and hydraulic damper options to minimize water hammer
The valve can be equipped with a counterweight and/or hydraulic damper to help minimize water hammer and reduce pressure surges in the pipeline. This added protection improves system safety, protects connected equipment, and supports smoother valve closure.
Corrosion-resistant body seat ring for extended service life
The body seat ring is manufactured from corrosion-resistant steel to enhance durability and protect the valve in aggressive operating environments. This construction improves valve longevity, reduces wear, and supports reliable sealing performance over time.
Dual-side shaft extension for flexible mounting options
Shafts protrude on both sides of the valve body, allowing the lever and counterweight to be mounted on either the right or left side. This flexible arrangement makes installation easier and provides greater adaptability to different site and piping requirements.
Adjustable counterweight for application-specific performance
The adjustable weight allows the valve to be adapted to individual working conditions and system requirements. This feature helps optimize closing performance, improve operational control, and ensure more precise response based on the application.
This valve is designed with a compact, space-saving construction that makes installation easier in restricted pipeline layouts while maintaining excellent performance. Its flexible design allows convenient maintenance of the counterweight and hydraulic damper, helping reduce downtime and simplify servicing. The valve also delivers stable operation by allowing flow to pass on both sides of the disc, which improves hydraulic balance and supports smoother performance.
With its double eccentric design, the valve offers lower operating torque and long-life seals, reducing wear and improving durability over time. To enhance pipeline protection, the valve can be equipped with a counterweight and/or hydraulic damper to help minimize water hammer and pressure surges. The body seat ring made of corrosion-resistant steel increases valve longevity, especially in demanding environments. In addition, the shaft extends on both sides of the body, enabling the lever and counterweight to be mounted on either side for greater installation flexibility. An adjustable counterweight further improves adaptability, allowing the valve to be tuned to specific operating conditions for optimal performance.
